Keirn's professional wrestling career took off in the early 1970s, primarily as a tag team wrestler in Championship Wrestling from Florida (CWF). During this period, he won the NWA Florida Tag Team Championship an impressive twelve times, partnering with notable wrestlers like Bob Backlund, Jimmy Garvin, and Brian Blair.
In addition to his tag team success, Keirn also achieved significant milestones as a singles wrestler, winning the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title by defeating the legendary Chavo Guerrero Sr. This title reign was recognized by New Japan Pro-Wrestling, as well as the Los Angeles and Florida NWA territories.
