Roussopoulos was born on September 13, 1963. He pursued his education at the private college Laboratory of Professional Journalism in Greece. Additionally, he holds a degree from the Hellenic Open University and completed his PhD in History at The University of Edinburgh in 2014. His dissertation, titled "Identity Disputes and Politics at the End of the 17th Century," focused on the ethnic identity of the Greeks in Venice.
Roussopoulos began his journalism career in 1981 at the daily newspaper Eleftherotypia, where he worked until 1994. During this period, he also contributed to the monthly Elle magazine. He was a founding member of Mega Channel TV station, where he served as editor-in-chief and political analyst from 1989 to 1999. Roussopoulos produced the 77 documentary program and contributed to various other media outlets, including Athena 98.4 FM radio station, Star Channel TV station, Messimvrini newspaper, and Kathimerini newspaper.
Roussopoulos' political career commenced in 2000 when he was appointed New Democracy Spokesman and Press Representative. Following the 2004 general election, he was appointed Minister of State and Government Spokesman by Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis. As Minister of State, Roussopoulos was responsible for the Secretariat General of Communication and the Secretariat General of Information.
