During his time at Olimpia, Palacios won five league titles, including the 2002-03 Apertura tournament, 2003-04 Clausura, 2004-05 Clausura, 2005-06 Apertura, and the 2005-06 Clausura tournaments. His most memorable moment came in 2006 when he scored a stunning goal from the halfway line against Marathón to win the 2005-06 Clausura tournament.
In 2007, Palacios made the move to Europe, joining Birmingham City in England.
