Windell Middlebrooks was the face of Miller High Life beer, starring in a series of hilarious commercials that made him a household name. But there was more to this talented actor and singer than just his iconic beer-guy persona.
Middlebrooks was born on January 8, 1979, in Fort Worth, Texas. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Theatre-Communications from Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas, and later pursued a Master of Fine Arts in acting at the University of California, Irvine, graduating in 2004.
Before making it big, Middlebrooks worked as a hospitality employee at the Texas Musical Drama near Canyon, Texas. But he soon transitioned to a successful acting career on stage and screen. He appeared in TV shows like The Suite Life on Deck, Hannah Montana, My Name is Earl, and Chocolate News.
His breakout role came when he landed the Miller High Life beer campaign, where he played a deliveryman who would confiscate beer from locations that didn't meet the "high life" standards. This role catapulted him to fame and earned him recognition as the "beer guy."
Middlebrooks also had recurring roles in Scrubs and Body of Proof, as well as appearances in Entourage, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Adam Carolla's podcast.
Middlebrooks was a devout Christian and was awarded the Chancellor's Club Fellowship at the University of California, Irvine.
Tragedy struck on March 9, 2015, when Middlebrooks was found unconscious at his home in the San Fernando Valley. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a Los Angeles hospital. The autopsy revealed that he died from a pulmonary embolism.
Windell Middlebrooks may have left us too soon, but his legacy lives on through his memorable performances and his iconic beer commercials. He will always be remembered as the charming, rugged, and lovable "beer guy" who brought laughter and joy to millions.
