Fatin Rt Zorlu was born on April 20, 1910, in Istanbul, Turkey, to a family originating from the village of Zor, Artvin, in northeastern Turkey. He received his high school education from Galatasaray High School and later pursued higher education in political science at the prestigious Institut d'études politiques de Paris in France. Additionally, he studied law at the University of Geneva in Switzerland, laying a strong foundation for his future career in diplomacy and politics.
Zorlu began his diplomatic career in 1932, serving in various posts in embassies and consulates around the world, including Bern, Switzerland; Paris, France; Moscow, USSR; and Beirut, Lebanon. He later became the ambassador to NATO at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Paris after Turkey joined NATO in 1952.
In 1954, Zorlu entered politics and was elected as a deputy of Çanakkale for the Democratic Party. He served as Deputy Prime Minister between 1954 and 1955 and as Minister of State in 1955. During this period, he also acted as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and played a key role in the Tripartite Conference on the Cyprus problem in London.
Zorlu's political career was cut short when the Turkish Armed Forces staged a coup on May 27, 1960, and he was arrested along with other politicians. After being tried and found guilty, he was executed by hanging on September 16, 1961, along with two other politicians, Adnan Menderes and Hasan Polatkan.
