A dominant center in the NBA, known for his impressive rebounding and shot-blocking abilities, playing for teams like the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers.
Jusuf Nurki, a 7-foot-2-inch center, is a Bosnian professional basketball player who has made a name for himself in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Selected by the Chicago Bulls with the 16th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, Nurki has played for several teams, including the Denver Nuggets and the Portland Trail Blazers, and internationally represents the Bosnia and Herzegovina men's national basketball team.
Born on August 23, 1994, in Tuzla, Bosnia, and Herzegovina, Nurki began playing basketball at the age of 14. His talent was discovered by Bosnian sports agent Enes Trnovevi, who took him to Slovenia to pursue his passion. Nurki played in the youth categories for Slovenian team Zlatorog Lako, where he showcased his skills and attracted international attention.
In 2012, Nurki was loaned to Union Olimpija to participate in the Nike International Junior Tournament, where he averaged 18.8 points and 11.0 rebounds in five games, solidifying his position as a rising star. Shortly after, he parted ways with Zlatorog Lako and began training with Croatian team Cedevita.
In October 2012, Nurki signed a contract with Cedevita Zagreb, where he spent two seasons. In his first season, he played a small role, mostly in garbage time, and averaged 1.8 points per game in the Euroleague. However, in his second season, under new head coach Jasmin Repea, Nurki had a breakthrough in the Adriatic League, averaging 11.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, despite only playing 16.3 minutes per game due to foul troubles and conditioning issues.
In the 2014 NBA draft, Nurki was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the 16th overall pick. After being traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2017, he played for the team until 2021, when he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. In 2022, Nurki joined the Phoenix Suns, where he continues to play.
Nurki has represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in several international competitions, including the FIBA EuroBasket and the FIBA World Cup. In 2015, he led his team to the EuroBasket quarterfinals, averaging 20.7 points and 13.3 rebounds per game.
Jusuf Nurki's impressive career has earned him recognition as one of the top basketball players from Bosnia and Herzegovina. His dedication, hard work, and passion for the game have made him a beloved figure in the basketball world.
