Born on September 8, 1958, in Anchorage, Alaska, Lardie was raised in Sacramento, California. He is a self-taught musician, having taken only a handful of lessons as a child. This self-driven approach to learning led him to master a range of instruments, including guitar, bass, sitar, mandolin, piano, harmonica, and flute.
Lardie's music career took off in the 1980s, when he began producing and engineering records for various artists. He worked on projects with Black Flag, Kajagoogoo, Dokken, and Saint Vitus, to name a few. This experience laid the foundation for his future work with Great White.
In 1986, Lardie joined Great White as a session and touring rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist. He eventually became a permanent band member, taking on the additional roles of producer and engineer. During his time with Great White, the band released several successful albums, and Lardie's contributions played a significant role in their success. Although the band broke up in 2000, they reunited in 2006, and Lardie continues to tour with them.
In 2003, Lardie joined Night Ranger as keyboardist and backing vocalist, replacing original keyboardist Alan Fitzgerald. He remained with the band until 2007, during which time he also toured with Great White. When Lardie left Night Ranger to focus on Great White, Night Ranger hired Chrissie Steele to take his place.
When Great White disbanded, Lardie returned to his first love – production. He has since worked on records with notable artists such as Jake E. Lee, Leslie West, Colin Blades (son of Jack Blades), Shaw/Blades, and Jizzy Pearl. Lardie's versatility as a producer and engineer has allowed him to work on a wide range of projects, showcasing his adaptability and talent.
