This experience sparked a passion in him to form a band with his friends, including CCR bassist Stu Cook and the Fogerty brothers. They even went as far as donning Beatle wigs, mirroring the Fab Four's style.
CCR was formed in 1964, with Clifford behind the drums. The band's unique blend of rock, blues, and country resulted in an impressive discography, including hits like "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," and "Down on the Corner." During his time with CCR, Clifford's drumming style was characterized by his straightforward, no-nonsense approach, which added to the band's distinctive sound.
After CCR disbanded in 1972, Clifford released his solo album, Cosmo, in 1972. He then joined forces with Stu Cook to form the Don Harrison Band, releasing two albums, The Don Harrison Band in 1976 and Red Hot in 1977. In 1995, Clifford and Cook reunited to form Creedence Clearwater Revisited, a band dedicated to performing live versions of CCR's classic songs.
In recent years, Clifford has continued to make music, releasing Magic Window in 2020 and collaborating with singer-songwriter John Wesley Harding on the album CliffordWright in 2021.
