Kin Phc was born in 1869 as the nephew-turned-adopted son of Emperor T c. He was taken in by T c, who was unable to have children of his own, along with his cousin Dc c and brother ng Khnh. After the regicide of Emperor Hip Ho, the court regents Tn Tht Thuyt and Nguyn Vn Tng quickly installed the 15-year-old prince as the new Emperor.
Kin Phc was enthroned on December 1, 1883, at five o'clock in the morning. However, his reign was marked by poor health, which hindered his ability to effectively rule the kingdom. His inexperience and youth also made him vulnerable to the influence of his regents, who held significant power during his reign.
Kin Phc's reign came to an abrupt end on July 31, 1884, when he died in Kin Thnh Palace. His sudden death sparked rumors that he was poisoned by his adoptive mother, T cs Noble Consort Hc phi, and regent Nguyn Vn Tng. These rumors arose due to their alleged secret affair, which Kin Phc was said to have discovered.
