On September 30, 1938, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, French Prime Minister Édouard Daladier, German Chancellor Adolf Hitler, and Italian Dictator Benito Mussolini signed the Munich Agreement, a pact that would go down in history as a shameful act of appeasement. As Hitler's troops marched into the Sudetenland, the Western powers turned a blind eye, hoping to satiate the Führer's appetite for expansion. Little did they know that this act of appeasement would only embolden Hitler, paving the way for the devastation of World War II.

The gruesome event was orchestrated by Einsatzgruppe C, a Nazi mobile killing unit, and marked the beginning of the Holocaust in Ukraine. The heinous act would remain a closely guarded secret until the Soviets liberated Kiev in 1943, but the world would eventually come to know the atrocities committed in Babi Yar.

In the tumultuous landscape of 1965 Indonesia, a cabal of disgruntled Indonesian Army officers, sympathetic to the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI), orchestrated a brazen coup attempt, abducting and assassinating six high-ranking generals. The PKI, already a thorn in the side of the army, was swiftly blamed for the heinous act, setting off a chain reaction of violence and paranoia. As the military and Islamist groups seized the opportunity to settle scores, suspected leftists, ethnic Chinese, and innocent civilians were caught in the crossfire, leading to an estimated half a million deaths in the ensuing massacres.
