d'Archiac's early scientific works, which date back to 1835, primarily focused on the Tertiary and Cretaceous formations of France, Belgium, and England. He meticulously studied the distribution of fossils geographically and in sequence, laying the foundation for modern paleontology.
His magnum opus, Histoire des progrès de la géologie de 1834 à 1859, published in eight volumes between 1847 and 1860, is considered one of the most significant contributions to the field of geology.
